Area XVI -- DKG California
“Women educators on the move making it happen together”
(The new biennium theme – 2017-2019)
Dear Super Area XVI Leaders and Friends, THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!!
I extend my deepest thanks to ALL of you for your incredible effort, dedication, and support in planning and executing our most successful Hands Across the Border event last Saturday. I particularly want to thank Barbara Eisele and her committee, Brenda Clark and Celia Ramirez! Ladies, my greatest regret when the party ended was that in the rush and confusion of the last moments, I had failed to applaud your efforts in front of the crowd, BUT I HEARTILY APPLAUD YOU NOW!
Barbara, you so graciously executed negotiations with the hotel staff, you carefully organized the panel presentation by our Baja sisters about which I have heard so many positive comments. The schedule of events and the room arrangement seemed to have a good flow. In front of our many guests from around the state and from south of the border as well, I was so proud and pleased with our Area XVI Celebration! I hope many of our guests will want to return once again next year. Thank you to each chapter for carrying out your responsibilities with grace and skill.
Gamma Chi: Kudos to you! Sandy, you outdid yourself once again in keeping a most accurate list of reservations and for working flawlessly with Bonita to get nametags completed and assembled in a timely manner.
Nu: Thanks, Phyllis and Debbie! Kudos to you for manning the registration and welcome table with warm smiles and efficient procedures. I never saw a line or a restless crowd.
Gamma Omicron and Gamma Chi: Kudos Jo and Bonita for organizing the many school supplies as they arrived. Looking from the "outside in" at your efforts, aside from the delay Friday night necessitating that all your work be done Saturday morning, you seemed to have a handle on things.
Beta Gamma: Kudos Mary Beth and Susan! In my experience that morning, as I flitted through the ballroom and in and out of the hotel foyer you seemed to be present everywhere guiding, directing, and offering help to everyone who came your way (including me!).
Eta Theta: Jennie and Laura, what can I say? You are unsung heroes dealing with the boxes and boxes of books for our Buck-a-Book center. You seemed to have a busy corner, and it is NOT an easy job! You are to be commended.
Eta Nu: Sally and Celia: Thank you, thank you! I didn't hear any complaints or note any confusion about the table assignments. It's great to have the list of names posted on each table. Extra thanks to Sally for helping with my faltering Spanish and for your tech assistance to Bette Caldwell from DKG California in presenting her Power Point. Special thanks to Judy Newlin from your chapter for bringing the popular succulent pumpkins. They added to the beauty of the tables. Sally, I also loved you poinsettias and other book flowers. They truly added to the décor!
Eta Iota: Brenda and Betty, kudos to your chapter for what appeared to be an essentially confusion-free silent auction, raffle, and "Glorious Giving Tree" area. The new signs really helped and the room was attractive and well-organized. Your efforts are reflected in the great bottom line! Your cashiers with the help of Bonita and the "charge square" made sales efficient. You have it down to a science!
Thank you also TO ALL CHAPTERS for your OUTSTANDING contributions to the auction and raffle. You outdid yourselves this time in getting information in before the event AND IN PROVIDING POPULAR ITEMS THAT INVITED INTEREST AND PARTICIPATION.
I literally could go on and on, but I will save more for the debrief meeting which I anticipate will be most positive Again, thanks to all! Please extend my praise to all the sisters in your chapters. They all are team players!
With love and incredible thanks for all YOU DO for Area XVI! You make me so PROUD of YOU!
